GMD OCs: Mademoiselle Relda by ALS123 GMD OCs: Mademoiselle Relda by ALS123
Omg, I found a really old sketch I made of this character from like 2-3 years ago... it was super awful so I remade from scratch. Although I'm still not entirely happy with the pose, especially the hand on her hip. I redrew that like 6 times before finally settling with this. still not happy with it but I'm stumped so... sorry ^^;

Relda is one of the first GMD OCs I ever read about when I got into the GMD fandom when I first joined dA :aww: I don't know if her creator is still active on here, but :iconthe-manga-goddess: I hope you like this :heart:

3-11-2017 IMPORTANT EDIT: Mademoiselle Relda (c) Eve Titus
tranimation-art created the first design for her, but this particular interpration of her I depicted was designed by The-Manga-Goddess. I'm sorry for any confusion I've caused, I do not want to start a war over who she belongs to.

Here is the original
The Woman Who Eclipses the Whole of Her Sex by tranimation-art

Due to the fact she is one of the oldest fan-characters in the Basilian community (because I created her back in 1994-ish, when I was still in middle school, and revealed her publicly waaaaay back in 1998-ish, when the internet was at its infancy), my Irene Relda is practically giving an ever-so polite "middle finger" to all the other Irene Reldas out there, because she was, indeed, the first after Eve Titus, and is, therefore, challenging her "imitators" to compete against the "original": Because she knooowws she's the "superiour" to the "lesser" versions out there! It's nothing personal on my end, but take what you will from her end (because she's not telling me anything beyond what she is telling you)... Sassy little thing, isn't she?

Actually Relda is owned by Eve Titus... she isn't an OC because she's a character in the book series.  It was :icontranimation-art: that came up with a character design in 1994, Revealed in 1998.  This is the design, color scheme etc, that's been copied by everyone... :/  So to say that :iconthe-manga-goddess: is the original owner and creative behind this character is not true.  She was only 8 years old when the character was made public.  So she obviously saw it online prior or MAYBE read it in a book.

I aware that Eve Titus created the original Relda, I just chose to try to draw :iconTheMangaGoddess:'s particular interpretation of her based on this Mademoiselle Relda's Profile by The-Manga-Goddess

Yes :icontranimation-art: may have been the first one to come up with a character design and backstory for her, but this particular version that I drew is not depicting that, so that's why I didn't give credit to her. I don't want to start anything and create a war over who she belongs to. Perhaps it's wrong of me to call her an OC as she's more of an interpretation of a Canon character, but I still give credit to :iconTheMangaGoddess: because this piece that I made is based on HER design of Relda's appearance, personality, and backstory.

Dude, can you see where she literally copied :icontranimation-art: even in the OC sheet. The pose with Irene leaning forward is like a copy of this:

'The' Woman by tranimation-art

I do get your pov and that it is an alt version of a canon character. But yeah, I see where she has been "inspired" in a big way by the profile and work of :icontranimation-art: as well as other early gmd OC artists...

I guess we should be flattered but it's also awkward too.

I have no idea what's going on, but thank you for defending my Irene Relda. I personally don't want to start an argument of any kind. I just want credit where credit is due, that is all.

I'm sorry I just saw this comment ^^; I don't want to start an argument either and I honestly wasn't aware that you were the first to make a design for Eve Titus's Relda. I updated the description of this piece giving you credit for that. I really am sorry, I didn't mean to start a war over posting this. I'm debating just deleting it from da altogether. I noticed that :iconalcyonesong: has recently deactivated their account here and I really hope it wasn't because of all this. I honestly didn't mean for it to get so out of hand and I'm sincerely sorry for any trouble I caused.

No, don't delete it. I want people to see your work; it's quite beautiful. Never been ashamed or afraid to show off what you worked hard on. Please continue and evolve and love art; stay creative. Whether I have an Irene Relda or not is inconsequential, it should never prevent you from creating your own original characters and your own world building.

Alcyonesong, yes, did leave DA, but it wasn't you, I assure you. She discussed it with me and I attempted to convince her otherwise, but she felt DA was "creatively stagnant" (her words, not mine). She felt it wasn't helping her creatively, so she decided to post her art on Tumblr instead (her account is alcyonesong on Tumblr). Personally, I don't think DA stagnates one's creativity, but all artists get into "ruts." We all have times where we just produce bad art. The late animation guru Chuck Jones talked about this in his autobiography and he recommended something very simple: Get it out. Keep drawing, go to the mall or some public area and just draw. Get all the bad drawings out of your system and the good stuff will come out once all the bad is gone.
