Fane Portrait

I recently bought some prismacolor pencils and a sketchbook with sort of tan-colored pages and wanted to make something with them. This is my first time using a traditional media rather than digital since like November of last year  After I scanned it I did have to tweak the colors just a tiny bit on my computer to make it look closer to the real thing. 

One thing I don't know how to do is make the shading more smooth. I don't really know how to explain it. I guess it's because of the texture of the paper but it looks to me like there's a lot of spots showing through, and I wanted the colors to look more smooth. I tried smudging it with a blending stump but it didn't seem to help much. I guess I just need more practice
