Awoken by the cries of seagulls overhead, Basil winced as he came to, letting out a painful groan. He reached up to touch the back of his throbbing head only to find that he couldn’t move. Looking around frantically, he realized that he was trapped beneath the beam that had fallen on top of him, along with more rubble from the ceiling. He managed to lift his head enough to look to the right and see the waves lapping against the rocks they had crashed into through several gaping holes in the side of the ship. The Intrepid had been completely destroyed. It was a wonder she hadn’t sunk, though he thanked fortune for that, or else he’d have woken up in Davy Jones’ Locker.
Wondering if any other crew members had survived, he began to call out weakly, trying to gain someone’s attention. Surely they hadn’t all been lost…

Chapter 1

As dark storm clouds lingered on the horizon, two ships cut through the waters of the Caribbean, one in hot pursuit of the other. The H. M. S. Intrepid, one of Mousedom’s finest military vessels, cut through the waves smoothly as she sailed at full speed towards her target. The ship was a flurry of activity as the crew hurried about to do their tasks.

A young mouse by the name of Basil Brettman felt a thrill of excitement course through his veins. He knew a pirate ship when he saw one. He hadn’t been in the service for quite two years yet, but he already had plenty of experience dealing with them. An excellent swordsmo

I've always wanted to draw him. He's one of my favorite characters from that movie too. I liked it when he wrestled the snake...and I love his accent :love:

Heh heh I really like him too! though I think Bernard is my favorite :) I love jake though, when I was a kid, I thought he was so cool :D Haha it's been years since I've watched that, I should go watch it again :aww:

This is one of my favorite pictures of yours. The body's coloring looks wonderful, although the clothing may need a bit of shading, because the first things to catch my eye are his belt's pocket and the button. :)

Aw, thanks Wess! :glomp: Yeah, I probably should have shaded it, but I forgot ;P Have you ever watched The Rescuers or the Rescuers down under? They're really cute movies. I used to watch 'em all the time. Haha, it's funny cuz Papa even liked it! He liked the two albatrosses, Wilbur and Orville :D
